The Interview: The Interview: This conversation was such a joy. Lisa and I met by happenstance on social media, and we became fast sister friends. Her podcast episode titled  It Starts in the Mind: Taking Thoughts, Captive caught my attention. We refer to her episode throughout the beginning of today’s interview, and I pray you will take a moment to listen. 

The Topics:

Lisa and I discuss her family, Christian experience, and various responsibilities of being an entrepreneur for Christ. Lisa’s background as a  freelance writer, coupled with her love of God, created an opportunity for her to spread the Good News uniquely. By making God our priority, we can be led by Him to those who will guide us.

Hello, People of Purpose!

It’s time to check in! In today’s episode we do a self assessment to check in on our emotions. This is an opportunity to pull out the weeds that strangle the beneficial plans in our lives. Let’s declutter mentally, physically, and spiritually so we can focus on God’s applicable Word.

 

The Message:

My Anger is a Whole Mood God does not want us to fear the evil of this world or be ill-prepared to handle them. What is prayer? Prayer is the key that unlocks faith in our life. It is the attitude of complete dependence and the action of asking. It is to address God with adoration, supplication, or thanksgiving. Prayer is asking God to intercede for us.

Take Action

As you listen to My Anger is a Whole Mood, I pray you will journal and keep your Bible close. As you react, think about what you are feeling and use the Bible concordance to look up that specific emotion. What does the Bible say about how you’re responding?

* I always feel that I need to act when faced with a problem quickly.

The Anger I Feed, the Podcast is designed to move us into reflection. The process is painful as I have had a difficult time owning my failures. We usually don’t want to admit we have addictive behaviors. I have learned that when communication ends, that is where Anger picks up and inserts wild conspiracy theories and distorts the truth.

Take Action

As you listen to The Anger I Feed, I pray you will journal and keep your Bible close. As you react, think about what you are feeling and use the Bible concordance to look up that specific emotion. What does the Bible say about how you’re responding?

Mike is a husband, father, military veteran, and earns a living in the software industry. As a congregant at All Nations Community Church, he and his wife are serving God in an impactful way.

Mike shares his missionary experience from 2013, which was a step in surrender to God’s grace and mercy. Through a series of events, Mike realized there was more beyond the surface, and the people of Uganda left a lasting impression. ◊Today’s episode we discuss addiction to selfishness and the roots of a scarcity mindset. More often than not, we can easily spot the mistakes of others but not reflect on our own.

Satan is the king of liars; his purpose is to kill, steal, and destroy. He will creep into our emotions making us anxious, worried, or doubtful. We doubt God hears our prayers so, we “figure out” a way to get it done. We worry over appearances and react impulsively. We are anxious and fear  missing a “blessing”. When we are overly emotional it is counterproductive to what God wants for us. There are times when we are to be still, trust, and believe His perfect timing is best for us. God is the Creator of all creation! Who better to handle the details of our daily lives?

The Message:

* I need several vehicles in case one isn’t working to do what I need to do.

* I must have multiple cell phones because my life is complicated.

* If my smartphone rings ding pings or makes a sound, I must check it right away.

* I need a variety of girlfriends or boyfriends because no one can handle all of me.

* I view worst-case scenarios as emergency medical needs, such as getting bit by a poisonous snake or hypothermia.

* I am continually taking inventory of my belongings.

* I believe I can handle anything that comes at me because I have all my resources locked down, and I don’t need anybody.

Overview:

In today’s audio drama, we discuss scarcity, which is the belief in a limited supply of anything, food, water, money, resources. Scarcity extends to everything time, beauty, love, attention, rest, space, happiness, experiences, and connections. There is never enough, especially the want of provisions for the support of life. It is a failure, and it is a shortage, it is a deficit. Scarcity separates us and not only emits anger but is fueled by the question: is more for you, less for me? 

 The Message:

In Anger and the Flames of Scarcity, the Audio Drama, Ruby shares a story riddled with the causes of her scarcity mindset. While she was a wealthy businesswoman, she suffered from isolation. Thus fueling her bitterness, and Ruby was unable to form healthy relationships with others. Ruby’s emotions manifested themselves physically as time passed, limiting her God-given purpose. 

Devotional

We are presented with an example of improper behavior. Suspicion, gossip, fault-finding, and doubt have no room in our plans. Read Jeremiah 5:23-25 and let the Holy Word guide your thoughts.

The wariness can cause friction, which can lead to bitterness and, finally, complacency. We go back to the “devil” we know and strive with greater difficulty to run in place. 

The Message:

In Anger Keeps Receipts, the Podcast we discuss how anger keeps an account of all the errors, faults, misdeeds, wrongdoings, offenses, and indiscretions. Anger has a way of making sure we never forget the thoughtless actions of others, all while blinding us to our responsibility.

We are presented with an example of proper behavior. If we behave as Christ, would our thoughts are also aligned with His. Suspicion and doubt will have no room in our plans. Read 2 Corinthians 4:1-18 and let the Holy Word guide your thoughts.

◊Today’s episode was a challenge for me. I love storytelling and believe it is an art. I pray that you will be able to follow the podcast and take notes as you do. As you hear Ruby and Onyx’s story unfold- does it resonate or sound familiar? More often than not, we can easily spot the mistakes of others but not reflect on our own.

The Message:

The Lies Anger Told, the Podcast is designed to move us into reflection. To line our behavior up with what we hear from the antagonist and protagonist. We can also start listing the people we may have villainized through our actions. The process is painful as I have had a difficult time owning my failures. We usually don’t want to harm anyone intentionally. I have learned that when communication ends, that is where Anger picks up and inserts wild conspiracy theories and distorts the truth.

One-Act Play

The story of Ruby and Onyx is an original one-act play written by me. They share a close familial bond even though they grew up in different households. While their personalities were similar, they both have unique talents and gifts. Ruby was ruled by her emotions and wore her heart on her sleeve. She had high expectations for everyone but none for herself. Humanitarian instincts governed Onyx, which led to wanting to please everyone. You may have thought Onyx was the “good guy” in this play, but if you dive deeper, you will discover his errors as well.
