Le film américain Glen or Glenda, du cinéaste Ed Wood, a longtemps été considéré comme l’un des pires films jamais réalisés.

En 1953, Glen or Glenda mettait en scène les tourments d’un travesti hésitant à révéler sa vie secrète à sa future épouse.

Dans cet épisode, Iris Lafon et Valérie Leclercq reviennent sur cette œuvre fondatrice du cinéma trans avec l’historien Tommy De Ganck, avant de s’interroger sur ce qu’est, au juste, un « mauvais film queer ».

Le film allemand Anders als die Andern, ou Différent des autres pour son titre en français, est souvent considéré comme le point de naissance du cinéma gay. 

De ce long-métrage muet réalisé en 1919, il ne reste que des fragments. Ceux-ci témoignent de la liberté et de la violence que connaît la communauté LGBTQIA+ dans l’entre-deux-guerres.
