Rich can’t make this podcast (boo) so i thought lets get someone in to talk about Panasonic cameras, and who better to make his first appearance on the show than the original Indie Filmmaker, and ambassador to the GH5, Griffin Hammond. In this podcast we talk about the GH5 announcement and how the specs compare to other cameras. Also, with my dabbling into documentaries, i thought it prudent to talk to Griffin about his documentary that he shot about three years ago called Sriracha. What challenges he face and how he overcame them. Its an interesting conversation that i would recommend any documentary filmmaker listen to. Follow Griffin on Twitter @Griffin and find him on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/user/griffinity

We have some amazing news, two bits of news actually. For all you wedding folks, this might be the most important podcast you hear (in the next hour). We have the YouTube guru Matt Johnson aka WhoisMatt on the show. He talks about all things weddings, from current techniques to the future of wedding videography and technological advances in this industry. We also reveal our big bit of news, Rich and I have decided to create a course. Partnering with Shadows and Light, we have created ‘Wedding Cinematics’, a two day course with esteemed wedding videography professionals. Hear from me and Rich, Ben Walton, Ray McShane and Jeff Wood at an independent cinema in Oxford in the UK. Lots of socialising and interaction is the key to this course, learn from other and people who Rich and I think are the best (ourselves excluded of course). The second day, we have four seminars which focus on editing, cinematic movement, audio and kit. It will be a fantastic event and we will love to welcome you to the event. Link is in the description and so too is the coupon code.

In this episode Rich and I finally speak to Erik Naso. It has been a long time coming for us all to catch up as we are all working professionals. We go a bit more in depth with the A6500 and the hopeful overheating issue resolution. We also talk, about different cameras for different people and uses. Erik has also completed his first Lynda.com tutorials so we talk about them too.

In this episode Rich and i talk about our latest work, a couple of weddings and a couple of corporate shoots which involved a new setup for Ben - a moving autocue. They discuss lighting at weddings and corporate 3 point lighting, as well as green screen tips as well as the benefit of 10bit vs 8bit camera workflows. They also have their view on the GoPro Karma and the DJI Mavic Pro, which one they would get and why they probably won’t get either.

Rich RETURNS!!!!!! About time too i think. This episode we talk about how Rich got on filming a wedding in Malta, Ben talks about his recent filming for the local police as they raided properties. It was an intense shoot!
We also talk about Craft vs Kit and who better to have on but Jeff Wood. His second time on the show Jeff talks about how trimming down his kit has made him a better storyteller. He is also creating a course/retreat based in Hungary, dates are to be confirmed - knowing Jeff it should be amazing! I would all Wedding Videographers to look into this course. Here is the link:

Anyway, i give my full run down on the Zhiyun Crane gimbal and how it compares to the DJI Ronin M. I also talk to Dave Powell, a wedding photographer, based in Wales where he is turning from being a well respected Photographer into a Videographer, is he mad? He might just be.

It looks like we have the specs of the new Canon 5D mark 4, and as we predicted if the leaked specs are anything to go by we might all be a little bit disappointed, especially when it comes down to the 4k image and frame rates. But only time will tell i guess. I also have the Zhiyun Crane in for review and aside a few minor things I am impressed with its first outing. We also talk about complaints from wedding couples and how to deal with them.

We had the pleasure of speaking to Ollie Kenchington of Korro Ltd about grading. With my recent struggles to get consistency across all of the LOG profiles i use, i wanted to get some top notch advice on colouring. So i thought of Ollie.
