Out Now With Aaron and Abe

If it’s Halloween, it’s Out Now with Aaron and Abe! This special bonus episode finds Aaron speaking with Prof. Mike Dillon about Jigsaw. This podcast started after the Saw series “concluded” in 2010 with Saw 3D, but now the series has returned for at least one more entry, so it’s time to jump back in. With Mike being a huge fan of the franchise and Aaron being less favorable towards the series, get ready to hear all sorts of opinions in regards to what Jigsaw has to offer. And of course, Happy Halloween!

The fifth and final horror special for the month puts focus on horror remakes. Sometimes looked down upon, Aaron is joined by Brandon Peters, Jim Dietz, and Maxwell Haddad to go over the ones that stand out. Everyone brought a list of horror remakes they like, as well as some thoughts on the ones that are terrible. That in mind, the guys also discuss why these occur, what there is to take away from them and why the great ones stand out. There is a lot to enjoy here, as plenty of films from many decades are discussed, and the concept of “remake” is indeed taken to its limits, so enjoy this final horror special and be prepared for more horror fun next year (along with whatever other bonuses may come along before then).

This fourth horror special for the month tasks Out Now with Aaron and Abe with determining what horror films are for people of all ages. The idea of children’s horror may seem strange, but there are a number of films that really do work for all and it’s great to give families some ideas of what else is out there beyond some of the obvious choices. Aaron and Abe are joined by Brandon Peters and Maxwell Haddad for this fun discussion, which features a discussion of a number of films they have selected for this topic. Hear about some of the fun family classics, along with some unconventional picks that may have you questioning whether or not there are some more adult-themed films that do work for a younger crowd. Enjoy, as it’s a topic worthy of such a conversation.

Week two of this year’s horror specials finds Out Now with Aaron and Abe spending time focusing on the legacies of two horror filmmaker icons who passed away this year. Both George A. Romero and Tobe Hooper became huge influencers for many filmmakers and films to come, what with the creation of the modern conception of a zombie and the cinematic eye that made The Texas Chain Saw Massacre stand out amongst other horror films. Aaron is joined by Brandon Peters and Jimmy O to discuss both filmmakers and delve into their long careers in the industry (Hooper begins at 58:49). Join in to hear about their films, both the most notable and more obscure. There’s a lot to go through.
