I'm forty years old, and anyone my age and younger thinks we are superior because of our technical ability with every new gadget or app. But do we actually love others in the way that we use our technological tools? And are we even capable of meaningful, deep, loving relationships anymore?

All of us have choices we make in life. When have you said "no" to a good opportunity for the sake of your soul, or for the sake of those in your care?

This is the second half of our conversation about the crisis of authority in our culture, and one of the main points we make is about the connection between authority and responsibility. I love the way that Tim ends the conversation: don’t worry about restoring authority, just start taking responsibility for others. And it’s true! If you do that well, with love and humility, authority will be restored, to the glory of God.

Whether you’re talking about the president of the United States or dad in the home, you’d have to be living under a rock to miss the fact that there is a general breakdown of trust for those in authority all across our society.

There’s always law and gospel. Elon Musk’s good news is that we can rescue the world from destruction through ingenuity and hard work.

But it’s a lie, and Elon Musk is a wuss.

God is the one with whom we have to do. You can judge God all you want, but in the end, he’s the one who will do the judging. The judgments of the LORD are true; they are righteous altogether. God has judged us and found us wanting, but He has also provided a way of escape through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Today’s conversation is all about how you can be right with God. This is a topic that I chose because I think it’s so important. I see the whole red pill movement and Jordan Peterson and all that stuff as our culture waking up to our need for law. And compared to the insanity of critical theory and transgender ideology and all that rot, Jordan Peterson’s 12 rules for life sounds wonderful. Sane!

But as pastor Max points out in the conversation, the law that Jordan Peterson or anyone else teaches cannot save you. Scripture teaches that we are saved by faith, and so we get in to what it means to have faith.
