In this episode of Outside In, we visit the Inside Out Clothing Project—the UK’s first clothing label designed and created entirely by young people with lived experience of the justice system.
Founded in 2022 by journalist Greg McKenzie, Inside Out isn’t just about clothes. It’s about creating real job prospects for young people leaving prison by offering hands-on training in fashion, design, and business. Every piece is made by participants who bring not just skill, but their own stories of resilience, hope, and ambition.
With support from LinkedIn and coverage on major news outlets like BBC, ITV, and Sky, Inside Out has become a movement—not just a brand. All proceeds go back into the community interest company, to help expand the program to reach thousands more over the next five years.
This is a story about second chances, stitched together by the people determined to take them.
We speak to Greg McKenzie, Lawrence, Jo and Rebecca and hear how Inside Out has changed lives and their plans for the future.
