We physicians give patients pills. And we hope for the best.

Sometimes it works, maybe not perfect but it is better than not taking the pills.

But then there is pill shaming.

The own feeling that ”this is not good”. And on top of this the surroundings - that is relatives, friends, coworkers and so on, experts on their own who say you should not really take the medication.

In this episode, Carin Hjulström and I talk about the chapter in Överlista smärtan/Outsmart the pain, about medication and the passage about pill shaming.

Being an anesthetist before I turned 100% pain, I met a lot of different challenges during my time at the ICUs, surgery and more, both in Sweden and in the U.K.

Covid-19 is a word suddenly everyone knows. Everyone has some kind of relationship to it. 

Sometimes there is pain related to a covid infection. What type of pain is that? Who suffers from it (at who seem not to get it)? How is it treated?

Listen to a this shorter episode when I go through how to deal with it. As always, in an as easy way as possible so you won´t get tired listening to me....

By chance, I met this guy Douglas Leon, or Dogge Doggelito who is his rap artist name. He became famous for the Swedish people when he tried to get them to buy refridgerators. And get a bike when they did so. Cykel på köpet. And I didn´t even know he now sings Swedish folklore with other famous Swedes as well!

Although his life has been rough, he now seems to be a very positive and happy guy, adapting very well to situations encountering him. And uplifting stories like this is just what I like to share.

So my talk today will be about Darwin. And Försäkringskassan. How in the world will I make that connection with the last episode? Tune in and listen!

An artist most Swedish people know. A multi talented artist who started off with Latin Kings and now does Swedish folklore. And something about selling bikes.

So here´s the short version of the talk I had with Carin last week, and how the book Outsmart the Pain (Överlista smärtan) came to be.

Being a well-known show host in TV productions and an aspiring crime fiction writer, what happened to Carin when she got pain that just would not go away? Which spread, and was so "strange" that she had to go to the hospital.

And what did that physician do when they could not find anything wrong, more than the severe pain? He sent a referral to the pain clinic. 

Carin´s thoughts about this whole process, the feedback from readers and why she has to re-read her own book many times, you will hear in this episode. Together with some thoughts of my own.
