Preventative oral care has always been a passion for Marcie Rutledge, who relocated to Madawaska Valley as a young registered dental hygienist who wanted to make a name for herself in the dental hygiene field but also as an entrepreneur. She decided to open her dental practice, Barry's Bay Dental Hygiene Clinic, in Madawaska Valley as she was drawn to the small town hospitality and the need for better access to dental hygiene services.

Kayla Janke is a serial entrepreneur - but what's a serial entrepreneur? It's someone who has aspirations to start a business and once they have a handle on it, they come up with another creative business concept and are ignited by another idea and simultaneously open another business. And that is exactly what Kayla did, opening Ottawa Valley Roast House, Valley Tent and Party Rentals, Parvati and Athena Events and Nature's Compass.

But before Kayla started all of her successful businesses, she was working for the Township of Laurentian Valley. In 2019, Kayla decided to forgo the security of a salaried job to take on her own endeavor, assuming all risks in hopes of success and embark on her passion that has now taken her on several different paths.

And a serial entrepreneur like Kayla decided to take on this challenge repeatedly, creating, overseeing and successfully managing 4 different businesses.

✨ But how did she confidently leave her secure 9-5 job and step into the world of entrepreneurship?
