There are only a small handful of female butchery owners throughout Canada and Michelle Brennan’s butcher shop in Arnprior is not only one of them, but her shop is 100% female owned and operated. Growing up on a farm in Saskatchewan, you’d think that Michelle was always meant to get into the agricultural industry... but you won’t believe what she went to school for before deciding that butchery was her passion.

Holly added a new segment to the podcast called “Ask the Butcher” where we find out some interesting facts about meat...like what the heck is meat glue?! Why are spare ribs called “spare” ribs? Why do steaks that look the same have different names? And there is a well-know area in San Fransisco known as the Tenderloin... and it has absolutely nothing to do with meat!

Jessica Khouri is a feminist marketer, writer and best selling author. This past fall, her co-authored book, Women Let’s Rise, became an Amazon Best-Seller. Her chapter Girl Gang, looks at building authentic and supportive communities of women in business.

Sigrid Geddes is the owner and founder of Sigrid's Naturals, handmade skin care products created from 100% natural ingredients. Sigrid’s learning brought on a sense of self-empowerment that she has shared with hundreds of others with the intent to inspire and empower. 

Sophie Smith-Doré is the Founder of Musclebound Mama Inc. As a nutrition and wellness coach, she helps women change their relationship food rather than simply focusing on diet and exercise. 

Tina Williams is the Executive Director with Community Living Upper Ottawa Valley and consultant with The Council on Quality and Leadership. Her focus has been on enhancing the quality of life of adults with developmental disabilities in her own community.

Jennifer Murphy sits on County Council as the elected Mayor of Bonnechere Valley Township. At the County of Renfrew Jennifer sits as the Chair of the Finance and Administration Committee, is a member of the Health Committee, and is involved in many fundraising efforts and community events throughout Bonnechere Valley.

Arlene Jamieson is the sole proprietor of Venture Interiors. As well as running her business, she is in her second term as municipal Councillor for the Town of Renfrew.

Jodi Bucholtz is the Marketing, Event Planning and Recruitment Coordinator at the Pembroke Campus of Algonquin College. Her goal is to tell the Algonquin College story, a story that reflects the amazing people, the sense of community, and the connections made at the campus.

Marianne Minns is a pivotal member of the Ottawa Valley, as she is an active volunteer and community activist, participating in numerous charitable and fundraising events. She’s also a huge advocate towards destigmatize mental health, as she helps to bring awareness to her son Mike’s founding company, Destig.

Stefani (aka Stefi) van Wijk is a life-long outdoorswoman and the Director of the Madawaska Kanu Centre, Canada’s first whitewater school. She aims to widen and grow the sport of whitewater paddling, as it brings people together for active, playful and growth-oriented experiences outdoors.

Ro Nwosu is connected to her community as a yoga instructor, wellness speaker and co-creator of the Facebook group, She’s In Business: Ottawa Valley. She also believes that collaboration, is an important factor when it comes to growth in the Valley, business sustainability and uplifting women in those same respects.

Valerie Hyska is the owner and operator of Hyska's: Your Independent Grocer in Petawawa. She is also the president of the Petawawa Rotary Club, chair of the Petawawa Business Advisory Network (PBAN) committee, and sits on the board for the Petawawa Housing Corporation.
