He went on to co-found of the Concussion Legacy Foundation with Dr. Robert Cantu to solve the sports concussion crisis through education, awareness, policy and research. You’ll hear what Dr. Nowinski and his Boston University team has learned from studying the brains of 500 athletes and veterans and his vision for changing sports to protect athletes.

    On this episode of Overdue Finds we're going back 50 years to 1969 to explore the top books, movies and music in a new feature that we're calling Pop Culture Time Capsule! EPL Branch Manager Richard Thornley joins Bryce and Caroline to also look at some local events from that year including a story about a hamburger causing trouble at the Alberta Legislature and a legendary rock band visiting Edmonton. From the Archies to Zeppelin, we have your 1969 covered!

    What would you do if you were arrested for a crime you didn't commit? What would you do if you passed a polygraph test, but no one believed you? Wrongfully convicted of two murders and on death row for 30 years—this is the true story of Anthony Ray Hinton.

    On this special edition of Overdue Finds, Bryce and Caroline chat with Anthony Ray Hinton who will be in Edmonton on June 12 as part of EPL's Forward Thinking Speaker Series. 

    Join us as Mr. Hinton talks about his incredible story, how friendship helped him get through some of his darkest days and his important work with the Equal Justice Initiative. This is an episode that you won't want to miss!

    Bryce and Caroline are excited to finally chat about the new Emilio Estevez film "The Public" which looks at some of the challenges facing a large urban library. Joining us to talk about the movie is librarian Angelica Thompson and social worker Hilary Kirkpatrick. Find out what the movie got right about working in a library and why EPL staff felt "seen" after watching it.

We'll be interviewing author Anthony Ray Hinton who will be our next Forward Thinking Speaker Series presenter on Jun 12th. Anthony Ray Hinton was released in April 2015 after spending 30 years on death row for crime he did not commit. He was released with the help of the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI), of which he is currently a Community Educator. Mr. Hinton was one of the longest serving death row prisoners in Alabama history and among the longest serving condemned prisoners to be freed after presenting evidence of innocence.
