In John 15, Jesus continues His final teaching to the disciples with one of His most powerful “I AM” statements: “I am the true vine.” Jesus is the Vine, the Father is the Vinedresser, and we are the branches.

In this message from The Beloved Gospel: Discourse, we explore what it means to live in union with Christ and remain connected to Him. The Father lovingly cultivates our lives through correction and pruning—not to harm us, but to position us for greater fruitfulness.

Jesus reminds us that fruitfulness isn't something we manufacture through greater effort. Apart from Him, we can do nothing. As we abide in Christ, His life produces His fruit in us—answered prayer, obedience, joy, and love for one another.

Fruitfulness is the consequence of remaining. The invitation of John 15 is to live delightfully connected to Jesus and allow His life to be expressed through ours.

Jesus promised that His followers would do greater works—but not through human effort. In John 14:12–31, Jesus reveals the Helper within: the Holy Spirit, who empowers Christ’s work, forms obedience in us, teaches us His words, and makes His presence visible through His people.

We are not the Incarnation, but we are an incarnational people—the life and presence of Jesus made visible through His Spirit-filled body.

With the disciples’ hearts troubled and Jesus preparing them for His departure, Thomas asks, “How can we know the way?” Jesus responds with one of His most recognizable declarations: “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.”

Then Philip asks Jesus to show them the Father. Through their questions, Jesus reveals something greater than simply where He is going: He is the way to the Father and the perfect revelation of who the Father is.

Jesus provides the way to the Father; in Him we learn the truth of the Father and experience the life of the Father.

In John 13:18–38, three men at the table reveal three very different postures toward Jesus: John leans close, Peter struggles with self-confidence, and Judas walks the road of betrayal. Through Judas’ story, we see how unbelief, greed, compromise, and giving the enemy a foothold can slowly erode our loyalty to Jesus.

Broken Loyalty challenges us not simply to ask, “How could Judas betray Jesus?” but to pray, “Search me, God. Is there anything growing in my heart that is weakening my loyalty to You?”

The washing points us toward two realities of our life with Jesus: He makes us clean through justification, and He continues to clean our walk through sanctification. Then, having received His love and cleansing, we are called to reflect His servant heart toward others.

What if the gospel is about more than meeting the minimum requirements for entering heaven?

In Mark 1:14–15, Jesus announced that the Kingdom of God had come near. His invitation was not simply to believe something that would affect us after we die, but to rethink the way we live today because God’s Kingdom is available to us through Him.
