Miki Fiki is an alt-pop project by artist Ted Hartog, founded in 2017 in a ranch-style house in west Nashville. From the debut self-titled EP to the danceable single “Stranger”, Miki Fiki has been influenced by artists as varied as Anderson .Paak to Ben Folds. Neo-soul arrangements combine with lyric-heavy verses and expansive harmonies to create a sonic landscape of "indie-pop brilliance" (Lightning 100), a sound that has made fans and friends in sweat-soaked basement shows from Mobile, AL to Amsterdam, NY.

I spoke with Mikayla about our experience with eating disorders and what positive body image means to us.

Mikayla Geier brings a unique blend of sensitive vocals, heartfelt songwriting, and imaginative production to the indie-pop scene. The Vancouver native spent her early years training as a ballet dancer, but later turned to music as her artistic outlet. While studying business and ballet at Indiana University, she started pouring herself into songwriting. Her debut single “Deja You” was released in November 2019 along with a self-shot and directed music video. Her undeniably catchy melodies and relatable lyrics have quickly captured the hearts of listeners, and she is excited to continue sharing deeply personal observations on releases to come.

Victoria Caro grew up in San Diego with her sister, Catherine Caro, and started dancing competitively at the age of 7.  She is recognized for her versatility in all styles of dance from classical ballet to hip hop. She started training in Los Angeles and has assisted several prominent choreographers. Although she has many accolades as a competitive soloist and company member, she thrives in storytelling through movement and media. By the time she was 18, she choreographed her first feature film, short film, TV film and commercial. She made her acting debut on Julie and the Phantoms (2020), created by Kenny Ortega.
