The 'Selfish Gene' theory, proposed by evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins, is beginning to face heavy rebuke and criticism within the realms of science, and as a cultural meme, the theory is also being questioned and rejected by philosophers, intellectuals, and economists as a viable framework in which to understand not only evolution and genetics, but also as a way of understanding the natural world and humanity's place within it.
