Acts 13:13-39

To redeem something has the idea of rescuing it, or freeing it from calamity. It often involves an exchange of something valuable for that which we want to redeem. The story of the Bible is the long narrative of God working throughout history to redeem a people. In our passage from Acts 13 this week, the Apostle Paul reminds us of the overwhelming patience and love of God as He works through history for our eternal redemption.

Acts 12:1-19

Have you ever wrestled with why God answers some prayers and not others? Ever wonder why things work out for some people and not others? Acts 10:1-48

Some people will try to convince you that following Jesus makes your life comfortable, sweet, safe, and easy. Try telling that to the Apostle Peter. It seems like he is constantly faced with challenges from Jesus that force him to make some hard decisions about what he believes and values. This week is no different. We find Peter confronted with a decision that will have massive implications for the future of the Gospel. What is more, we are faced with similar decisions on a regular basis. Come see what we can learn from Peter that can make a difference in how to follow Jesus today.

Acts 9:1-22

What do you make of a guy who violently opposes Christianity to the point that he has people arrested, beaten, and sometimes killed? What do you make of that same guy when he has a dramatic about-face and becomes one of history's most passionate proclaimers of Jesus? It takes more than tweaking your lifestyle, or an attitude adjustment, for that kind of change to take hold. It takes an encounter with the living Christ. This week we will explore Acts 9:1-22 and the conversion of Saul of Tarsus, who most people know as Paul the Apostle.

Acts 8:26-40

Often we think that the only way for the Gospel to make an impact is through the preaching of high powered people. The Books of Acts tells us a great deal about the preaching of Paul. History often highlights people like Charle Spurgeon and Billy Graham. But it is usually the witness of everyday people that has the biggest and most lasting impact. We see that this week when a one on one encounter between Philip and the Ethiopian official results in a nation being impacted with the Gospel.

History repeats itself, right?  It often does and it is no different for the people of God. Stephen walks through some of that history in Acts 7 and challenges the religious leaders of his day and us as Christians today to not let history repeat itself.

Instead, the Christians in the church at Antioch followed the leading of the Holy Spirit to venture out into the unknown in order to spread the Gospel and make disciples. 1 Chronicles 29:1-9

The people of Israel were nomads for a long time. The Tabernacle, which was their place of worship was a tent that was easily moved from place to place. When the time came for them to build a permanent place to worship and serve the Lord, it was the leaders of Israel who showed the way through generosity. This Sunday we look at 1 Chronicles 29:1-9 and the sacrifice leaders made in order to honor God and inspire people.
