Ovies and Giglio take a brief detour from hockey to break down what came out of ACC meetings in Amelia Island — and it's a significant development in the college football playoff conversation. The ACC has reached consensus on wanting a 24 team College Football Playoff, joining the Big 12 and Big Ten in what feels like a sudden and meaningful shift from where these conversations were not long ago. The key word driving all of it is access — coaches want the security of knowing their programs can get in and athletic departments want actual ROI on the money being poured into building these teams. That leaves the SEC standing alone. Will they fight it or eventually fall in line?

Then it's back to the Carolina Hurricanes — and the guys went straight to the source. OG After Dark is live from Philadelphia — and the Carolina Hurricanes are making NHL history. The Canes pulled off the double sweep to start the Stanley Cup Playoffs 8-0 becoming the first team to do so since the 1985 Edmonton Oilers who went all the way to 9-0. Carolina got there by shaking off a first period deficit and surviving a gut punch moment in the second period when an initial lead changing goal was wiped off the board after NHL review determined there was goalie interference from William Carrier. That was followed by the Flyers tying the game 2-2 after Logan Stankoven notched his 7th goal of the playoffs. The Canes held their composure to get this thing to overtime, where Jackson Blake scored the game winner to close the serious out.
