This Sunday we landed in Genesis 15 as Pastor Joe Etter walked us through God's covenant with Abram. In the middle of Abram's questions and fears, the Lord met him with a simple promise: "Do not be afraid." God didn't just make a covenant — He guaranteed it Himself. A powerful reminder that our hope isn't in what we can accomplish for God, but in what God faithfully accomplishes for us.

This week we landed in Genesis 13–14 as Abram and Lot return from Egypt and settle in the land. When given the choice, Lot chose what looked best to his eyes—the fertile Jordan Valley—while Abram trusted to go to the place God called him to, depending fully on the Lord to provide.

There, Abram lives with deep conviction, confident that God's promises are secure and that his future rests not in human control but in God's sovereign hand.

Yesterday, Pastor Matt walked us through Genesis 12 and the promise that all nations would be blessed through Abram's seed. Because God always remembers His promises and fulfills His purposes, we have been brought out of darkness and into His light.

So the question for us is this: Are we willing to leave what is seen for what is unseen?

Jesus calls us to loosen our grip on this life and anchor our hope in the life we have in Him. To trust what we can't yet see. To live for what is eternal.

Live for what is unseen.

In today's message, we encourage our church to pursue life together and explore why Scripture places such a strong emphasis on belonging, fellowship, and walking faithfully with one another in the context of the local church.

For our final sermon of the year, we returned to Genesis as our Student Minister walked us through the flood narrative, highlighting how God's justice, mercy, and grace are woven throughout the text.

This Sunday marked the close of our Advent season as we glory in Christ's righteousness, behold the goodness of His work, and marvel at the love of God—seen now in part, but one day fully revealed. Christ has come, and He will come again.

The birth of Christ is a redemptive act so profound it stands alongside creation itself in God's work in history. In the manger lies the Lamb of God—the true Passover Lamb—God in human flesh, born to take our place. Because of His finished work, justice lifts its sentence, inviting us to leave our sins behind. As we wait for Christ's return, we long for the day when the whole earth becomes God's dwelling place and the beauty of His redemptive plan moves us to worship.

This second week of Advent draws our attention to the hymn "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," as heaven announces the arrival of the long-awaited Seed of the Woman. God has come near—born to live with us that we might live with Him. What we desire most is not found in circumstance or possession, but in the person of Christ. He Himself is our treasure—our portion forever.
