This second week of Advent draws our attention to the hymn "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing," as heaven announces the arrival of the long-awaited Seed of the Woman. God has come near—born to live with us that we might live with Him. What we desire most is not found in circumstance or possession, but in the person of Christ. He Himself is our treasure—our portion forever.

For more than 2,000 years, Christians have gathered to lift their voices in song. But have you ever stopped to ask why we sing? As we enter a season when music fills every corner of our lives, there's no better time to reflect on the role of singing in the Christian life. This Christmas, let's reclaim the beauty and purpose of our songs, declaring them with joy and conviction. Let heaven and nature sing—for the Lord is victorious.

This Sunday we continued in Genesis 4, where Scripture introduces us to the offspring of the woman and the offspring of the serpent. We see the seed of the serpent in Cain, whose heart turns toward loving creation more than the Creator. And we see the seed of the woman in Abel, who worships God faithfully yet is attacked and struck down by the seed of the serpent.

Genesis reminds us that all of humanity ultimately falls into one of two lines—the seed of the woman or the seed of the serpent. This passage calls us to guard our hearts from loving the world more than we love God.

But it also points us toward hope. The story of paradise regained is true only through Christ. His blood speaks a better word than Abel's—crying out not for vengeance but declaring that justice has been accomplished on our behalf.

This Sunday we continued in our Genesis sermon series. "A thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices, for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn." Even in a passage centered on curses, we see a beautiful thread of hope woven through the consequences of the first sin. Listen in today as we explore the promise of redemption that breaks through humanity's darkest moments.

This past Sunday, we continued our study in Genesis 3:8–13. Pastor Matt shared how God lovingly pursues us, bringing our sin into the light so that we might be restored to Him. God is at work in both men and women who belong to Him—and we can rest in that truth.

This week we kicked off our new sermon series, Genesis: Tracing the Seed of the Woman. We began in Genesis 1 and the start of chapter 2, exploring the beauty of creation and the invitation to rest in our Savior. God is the author of our faith and salvation. For those who have been laboring hard—making bricks without straw—lay down your burdens, trust Christ, and enter into His rest.

In Mark 15:33–39, we're confronted with the sobering truth of the cross. Before we can long for the life that never fades, we must first face the reality that everything in this world—including ourselves and those we love—is perishing. Every achievement, every possession, every treasure here is already slipping away. Only when we see that clearly will we truly hunger for the unfading glory of what Christ has secured for us.

Jesus has done it. The debt is paid. An eternal inheritance is waiting in heaven. The question is—will you trust Him?
