When Jesus ascended to the Father, he sent the Holy Spirit, not the Bible. We need the Holy Spirit in our lives to know how to read the Bible! Put the Holy Spirit first; invite the Holy Spirit to help you read and understand. Invite the Holy Spirit to guide your every step each day.

Philippians 2:6-11 is, perhaps, the oldest existing writing about Jesus. It's description of Jesus gives us this most basic identity feature of our Lord: humility.  

What does "putting God first" mean? Does it help you answer that to know how much God values you?

Concluding our series "Who Am I? Why Am I Here?" we adopt Mordecai's insight offered to Esther that "for such a time as this" we are here, the church, to make disciples of Jesus. 

Not all tunnel vision is created equal. Sometimes it helps one focus on something that one loves or something that really needs to be done. Sometimes tunnel vision is borne of anxiety, which is the opposite of focus and love and accomplishment. What do you do when you are experiencing that kind of tunnel vision. First, know you are not alone.

We want to know what's right and wrong, what's good and bad. Give us a list, tell us what to do and what not to do. Oh, wait, that doesn't actually work all that well. In Ruth's story, we find what we really need and what God values; faithfulness. God is faithful, and God invites us to respond in kind.

God doesn't call the qualified, God qualifies the called! What has God called you to do? What is God calling you to do now? No matter how many times you've missed it before or refused to listen, God is still faithful and God is still calling. Answer! Follow!

Episode 2 in the "Who am I? Why am I here?" series focuses on facing our past. We continue Jacob's story, looking at what happened when he finally faced his past.

Opening the sermon series, "Who am I? Why am I here?" is "Always on the run." Like Jacob, we've all spent some time in our lives on the run. Are you running to something or from something? Are you open to finding, as Jacob did, that "God was in this place and I didn't know it"?
