I feel the need to pass on the skills of my teaching craft and life to help other teachers avoid some of the pitfalls I have found myself in. I have been there, screwed that up, tried again, and sometimes even done that with so many classroom, FFA, personal, parenting, and relationship things that there are horrible and comical stories from my life that apply to almost anything.
Welcome to the "owl-ways" podcast. This is a roosting place to help teachers live their best personal and professional lives. I am your host, Jodi Koterba. Being an experienced teacher, I'm asked to advise you on tools and strategies to implement that will help you to be efficient, effective, and fulfilled. I will equip you to streamline and enhance all aspects of your life. I hope that my advice can always be based on true knowledge and ripened with wisdom. If you're ready to live your life at it's best, let's get started.
Why "Owl-ways" you might be asking? This name came from a couple of places. Society and media have often used the image of the wise old owl. I’m sure if you think about it, you’ve seen the owl with a graduation cap and a pointer in its wing. You can find many examples of the owl being used as the spirit animal representing wisdom, and knowledge. I have to give a nod to the Harry Potter series and the owls that carried the mail, letters from home, and notes. Most of my nearly 30 years of teaching had been in agricultural education and FFA. The symbol of the FFA officer of advisor is the owl. Ultimately, this is a play on words. "Owl-ways" can sound like always. Finally, this wise old owl is sharing her "ways" of teaching, learning, living, and loving.
