What if someone said something that completely changed the trajectory of your life without even knowing it? Boss Ladies Magazine started with a conversation I never expected. One that changed my life and sparked a movement that has now documented the stories of over a hundred incredible women and is now reaching over a million readers.
It was a Tuesday morning in 2021. A woman was sitting in my garage studio getting ready for a branding photoshoot. As she shared the real story behind building her business, I felt like she was speaking directly to a part of me I had not yet been brave enough to acknowledge. She had no idea that her words were about to spark the beginning of Boss Ladies Magazine.
In this episode of The Own Your Brand Show, I take you behind the scenes of how Boss Ladies Magazine was born, what it has become, the exciting next chapter I honestly cannot stop thinking about and why documenting your story can become a powerful visibility and business asset. I also share how the women we feature have used their stories to build credibility, attract clients, form partnerships, gain media exposure, and create new opportunities.
If you have been building something real and quietly wondering when it will be your turn to be seen, this episode was made for you.
Boss Ladies Magazine Volume 4.2, The Legacy Issue, is live now. Eight women. Eight powerful legacies. Visit www.thelimstudios.com/blm4v2 to read it and book a call to be featured in our next issue.

You have a closet full of clothes. You bought them because you loved them.
And now you stand in front of them every morning and feel like you have nothing to wear. Personal stylist Marti Justice says this is not a shopping problem. It is not a time problem. It is an identity problem.
In this episode Marti joins Victoria Odekomaya to break down the Main Character Style framework a three-part system built around your style identity, your body type, and your lifestyle. She also breaks down why your measurements are not a judgment but a key that unlocks how to dress your body, why your body type never changes no matter how much your weight fluctuates, and why your wardrobe needs to grow as fast as your career does.
This is not a fashion episode. It is a visibility and confidence episode. Because when you know who you are, how your body works, and where you are showing up getting dressed becomes a power move not a problem.

You started your business. You named it, built it, created content for it, and made deals for it. But without the right legal foundation in place — trademarks filed, contracts signed, copyrights registered — almost none of what you have built is actually protected. In this episode Victoria Odekomaya sits down with attorney Aimee Peele, founder of Peele Law Group and Turnaround Dynamic, to break down exactly what every small business owner needs to know about protecting their brand, their content, and their future.
This conversation covers trademark research and why skipping it can lead to cease and desist letters and lawsuits, why your AI search history can be subpoenaed and used as evidence against you in court, what you actually own when you pay someone to create content for you, and how to build a legal foundation that fits your current budget without trying to do everything at once.

You already know you need to be more visible. So why haven't you done it yet?
In this episode of The Own Your Brand Show Victoria Odekomaya breaks down the six barriers keeping accomplished executives and service business owners stuck in the visibility gap — the knowledge gap, the time story, the trust barrier, the identity barrier, the uncertainty barrier, and the control gap. Sometimes it is one. Sometimes it is all six stacked on top of each other causing full paralysis.
Until you name the specific barrier stopping you nothing changes. And once you name it you stop trying random things and start making the right moves.
If you are a service business owner or executive who has been doing extraordinary work quietly and wondering why the right opportunities keep going to someone else — this episode is for you.

Monica White spent 14 years building expertise in human capital, compliance, and operations before stepping into a Boone County Clerk race that no Black woman had ever entered. As the founder of COIL Solutions LLC and the first Black woman on the ballot for Boone County Clerk, Monica has built her entire life around one conviction — foundation over fame. In this episode Victoria Odekomaya sits down with Monica to talk about what that actually looks like in business, in politics, and in a community that was not always designed with her in mind.
This conversation covers the real work of human capital and compliance, what it means to modernize a county clerk's office using an HR mindset, how Monica responded when racism showed up in her campaign with complete dignity, and what her story means for every woman who has been building something real while staying invisible.
What you will learn:
• What COIL stands for and why building from the inside out is the only foundation that lasts
• Why HR is a resource for humans — not just a tool for managing exits
• What Monica's platform means for Boone County residents, rural farmers, and small businesses
• How she became the first Black woman on the ballot for Boone County Clerk and what that decision created
• What “not fame, foundation” means when you live it every single day
This episode is a reminder that leadership is not always loud — sometimes it looks like consistency, resilience, and doing the work long before anyone notices.

Most people think branding starts with visuals.
Logos, colors, websites.
But that’s not where strong brands are built.
In this episode, I sit down with Danielle Marsh, founder of Brand Vision Consulting, and we break down what branding actually looks like when it’s done right.
We talk through the Brand Equation:
Identity + Tools + Presence + Experience
And more importantly, what that actually means for you as a business owner.
Because if your brand feels inconsistent, unclear, or disconnected from the level you operate at, it’s usually not a marketing problem.
It’s an identity problem.
Inside this conversation, we break down:
This is the kind of work that changes everything, because once your identity is clear, your message becomes stronger, your content becomes easier, and your brand starts attracting the right people.

Burnout isn’t just about doing too much—it’s often a sign that something deeper is missing. In this episode of the Own Your Brand Show, Victoria Odekomaya sits down with wellness consultant and therapist Kat Nick to unpack what burnout really means for entrepreneurs, business owners, and growing teams. Together, they explore why self-care alone isn’t enough, how workplace culture directly impacts mental health, and what leaders can do to create an environment where people actually thrive—not just survive.
If you’re building a business, leading a team, or simply trying to balance work and life without feeling overwhelmed, this conversation will give you practical insights you can apply right away. Kat also shares her framework for preventing burnout through three types of coping skills—distraction, processing, and self-care—and explains why businesses must invest in workplace wellness to improve retention, productivity, and overall team wellbeing.
