Nightbird Books in Fayetteville is closing Feb. 29. The locally-owned, independent bookstore has hosted book clubs, workshops and the Ozark Poets and Writers Collective readings during its nearly 14 years of operation.

The Barbaloots will release a new CD with a concert Sunday at Fayetteville Public Library. The band is the brainchild of Michael Cockram, one half of the folk duo Shore and Cockram, and the band's new CD, Possum Came to Town, is an album of music intended to appeal to all ages. We talk with Michael Cockram and Susan Shore about the new album. Michael begins their conversation by explaining how the project began.

Since the first medical marijuana dispensary in Arkansas opened last May, patients across the state have spent over $40 million purchasing more than 6,200 pounds of medical marijuana. There are 18 dispensaries currently operational, but more than 30 percent of sales are through the four dispensaries in Northwest Arkansas.

What was once a 63,000 square-foot cheese factory, has been transformed into a contemporary arts venue that includes galleries for exhibitions, performance spaces, artist-in-residence studios, culinary experiences, and a rooftop bar. Arkansas, Kentucky and Oklahoma are working with the Southern Rural Development Center , located at Mississippi State University, on the Create Bridges program.
