Today on the 5: It doesn't seem like many gadget or technology blogs can go 15 minutes without posting a leak of some kind, does it? I find it amusing, but I wonder what people get out of some of this news. If it's not a leak that gives you something tangible to test with or a completely new version of something out of left field, what do you get out of these leaks?

Today on the 5: Remember the good old days when it was Sega and Nintendo battling it our for console supremacy? Today it's Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo, but I think before too long we'll be back down to only a pair of big rivals trying to take each other out.

Today on the 5: I've noticed that many blog posts that have a lot of good things to say also start to bury themselves under an avalanche of words. Not only does it diffuse the points, but it can lead to tangents that that end up undermining those points. I hope we avoid that problem on the show, and on my 5s.

Today on the 5: I took the time to watch the unveiling ceremony at the White House for the portrait of George W. Bush. As I watched the current and former Presidents and their wives speak, I felt a sadness about the whole thing. Can we believe anything that is said by those in power any more?

Today on the 5: The recent revelations of a covert power struggle within the Vatican strike me as revealing. How is it that such terrestrial concerns have made their way into an organization that is, in essence, guided by the divine? Doesn't a scandal of this type reveal the true face of the Vatican?
