Today on the 5: It's Thanksgiving in the United States, a holiday when being grateful is one of the core goals of the day. In that spirit, I decided to ditch the usual complaining about terrible tech companies in favor of highlighting one that I absolutely love: Rogue Amoeba.

Today on the 5: Every few months or so, we get another round of people complaining that the iPad is an overpowered piece of hardware and that Apple needs to unlock the true potential of the platform. Many of these same people have reported that Apple has no interest in either a "convertible" laptop or just adding a touchscreen to their portable computers. Doesn't that all point to a pretty clear conclusion?

Today on the 5: After Lando and I watched a movie so terrible I'm not even going to talk about it, I decided I needed to get that experience out of my head as soon as possible. I turned to my very long list of movies to watch and rolled the dice on a 2022 film titled Vesper. In every respect it was the absolute correct decision!

Today on the 5: After putting in around 200 hours with Death Stranding 2, I finished the main campaign. I really loved the first game and I've enjoyed many oither Hideo Kojima games, so I was really surprised how mixed my opinion of this game is.

Today on the 5: Microsoft has come up with a brilliant plan on how to make Windows better for everyone! The plan is to make Windows into an "agentic OS", and that sounds like a great way to make me give up using the OS entirely.

Today on the 5: Following a series of hardware announcements, a lot of folks have been getting excited about the Steam Machine coming from Valve. I not only agree with this excitement, but I'm wondering if people are underestimating how successful that computer could be.

Today on the 5: Apple CEO Tim Cook recently celebrated his 65th birthday, and like clockwork a bunch of "financial reports" started appearing about his possible retirement. Putting aside how much of this reporting was centered around pure speculation, the reality is that successful CEOs never really reach "retirement age".

Today on the 5: Throughout the last week I've run across multiple new variations on the "cinema is threatened" complaint, which I've expressed my frustration over a few times before. I'm still bewildered by these self-proclaimed "champions of cinema" promoting a mindset that itself is most harmful to the future of that art form!
