Today on the 5: I watched a movie that comes up on a lot of 70s science fiction movie lists, Colossus: The Forbin Project. It was a really good, deliberate take on the idea of computer logic and how it can go wrong.

Today on the 5: Last week I talked about the Galaxy Fold, which I largely regard as a gimmick device. I still feel that way, but it's important to consider the positive side of gimmick technology.

Today the 5: Samsung a big Galaxy event yesterday, and the leading announcement was the Galaxy Fold. Some trends in phone innovation make a lot of sense to me, but this foldable phone feels more like a niche or gimmick device than anything else.

Today one the 5: Next month Apple is holding an event that many outlets are reporting will be focused on their upcoming services. Based on the some of the reporting, Apple may be making a big bet on their name being enough to offset subscription creep.

Today on the 5: For years I've been meaning to watch La Jetée, one of the main inspiration points for 12 Monkeys. I finally did so, and it was a wonderful example of how effective experimental film can be.
