Today on the 5: I came across this news story about a human generated image winning a photography award in an AI category late last week. I was a bit confused by the point of the stunt, so I read a few different articles about it as well as the logic behind it presented by the photographer. I'm still confused.

Today on the 5: Jabra's parent company has announced that they are getting our of the consumer earbuds and headset business. While their reasons certainly make sense, I have to admit I'll miss one of the more reliable product lines I've ever used. 

Today on the 5: Apple kicked off the annual WWDC event with a keynote unveiling Apple Intelligence. This AI integration effort was seen by many as a competitive necessity, so it wasn't much of a bombshell. What did surprise me was how little Apple seemed to care about it. 

Today on the 5: The most recent Monsterverse film Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire recently hit digital release, but I somehow missed it up until this weekend. I jumped on it as soon as I realized I could, and it ended up being exactly what I wanted out of an American Godzilla movie. 

Today on the 5: You may have seen some news items about a possible mass exodus by creatives from Instagram to the relatively new Cara platform. Whether that number is real or not, I'm not sure these kind of moves actually accomplish anything in the end.

Today on the 5: Only a day after I talked about Zoom's plan for virtual meeting attendees, Vox posted an article talking about an artist named FKA Twigs working on her own deepfake avatar. Those two things got me thinking about what type of world it will be when everyone just uses artifical versions of themselves for every interaction.

While nothing that was sauid really surprises me coming fronm a company that is not exactly beloved by the creative community, it does highlight another aspect of creativity that is misunderstood.
