Today on the 5: The CEO of Zoom thinks in the next few years we'll all be able to skip meetings by sending a "personal LLM" to attend for us. While I'm certainly pleased a major CEO is tacitly acknowledging how pointless most meetings are, I'm not sure he's thought this concept all the way through.

Today on the 5: I came across a movie that looked like something from a slice of time that no longer exists. The video is called Oblivion 2 Backlash, and it's an adorably fun example of what you'd see in the early morning hours during the early days of the Sci-Fi channel.

Today on the 5: Between terrible internally created ads and wonderful externally crafted creations, I've had a real desire to see the old Apple come back in some way. Remember when their products had color and took chances? They've got the hardware design pretty much locked in, so why not start letting loose in the design department?

Today on the 5: Microsoft recently held a Surface and Windows event where they made a bunch of hardware and software accnoiuncments. One of the most highly discussed news items from that event is Recall, a sort of system wide overseer that constantly captures virtually everything you do on your computer. A lot of people are losing their minds over this feature, but as described I'm not sure I have much of an issue with it.

Today on the 5: I've been waiting for Love Lies Bleeding to hit VOD and it finally did, so I watched it over the weekend. I had seen comparisons of the film to Bound, which makes a lot of sense but shouldn't be read as meaning it's anything other than a unique and fantastic film.

Today on the 5: Amazon is reportedly getting set to unveil an upgraded version of the Alexa voice assistant. Just like everything else on the planet, this new version will be augmented by AI. Most interestingly, Amazon is apparently planning to charge for it, and the price being bounced around is $20 a month. That feels...ambitious.

Today on the 5: After seeing a lot of good reviews for the Sony INZONE Buds, I kept an eye out for a good deal on them and when one came up I grabbed them. So far, a lot of my time with the INZONE Buds has been great, but in one area they are a big step down from my Arctis headset.

Today on the 5: News and discussion about AI is basically inescapable right now, and it often ends being awed anticipation or fiery fearmongering. No matter which side of the fence you end up on in regards to the technology itself, the real areas of concern are the humans in control of it.
