Today on the 5: The CTO of OpenAI recently made some comments on the necessity of some creative jobs that got a lot of people upset. While I remain fairly neutral on AI as a tool, statements like these reinforce the reality that it is the people who control these tools that are the real threat to creative individuals. 

Today on the 5: I've been hearing good things about I Saw The TV Glow for a while now, so when it became avaialble to rent on VOD i jumped on it. As I've come to expect from anything attached to A24, I found it to be a powerful and well made film that's stuck with me since I finished it.

Today on the 5: Adobe recently got an earful from creatives after a badly updated terms of service appeared to allow the company access to anything created on their products. While that update may have been the result of lawyer language bypassing basic public relations review, it does highlight a larger issue with Adobe.

Today on the 5: There are reports floating around that Apple is reassessing their plans on the Vision Pro headset. While the obvious reasoning would be the relatively lukewarm reception of the device, I wonder if Apple isn't taking advantage of the AI hype mania to deaden the impact of revising what seems to be their only exciting idea.

Today on the 5: Lando pointed out that the Criterion Channel has added a new collection called "Synth Soundtracks". I decided to find something in that list I hadn't seen already, and I ended up watching a wonderful Romanian animated film tiled Delta Space Mission.

Today on the 5: I came across this news story about a human generated image winning a photography award in an AI category late last week. I was a bit confused by the point of the stunt, so I read a few different articles about it as well as the logic behind it presented by the photographer. I'm still confused.

Today on the 5: Jabra's parent company has announced that they are getting our of the consumer earbuds and headset business. While their reasons certainly make sense, I have to admit I'll miss one of the more reliable product lines I've ever used. 

Today on the 5: Apple kicked off the annual WWDC event with a keynote unveiling Apple Intelligence. This AI integration effort was seen by many as a competitive necessity, so it wasn't much of a bombshell. What did surprise me was how little Apple seemed to care about it.
