Today on the 5: Actor Colm Meaney recently commented that not every character needs to be return in modern Star Trek. Thinking back on how little I remember about Picard season 3, I have to agree and would much rather Paramount spend some cash on a proper remaster of Deep Space Nine!

Today on the 5: After watching a movie that was in many ways a paint by numbers production, I went in the completely opposite direction by watching 1967's Wavelength. Described by some as the most experimental film ever made, it's a unique experience that kind of warped my brain a bit while I watched it.

Today on the 5: I tend to enjoy watching shark horror films, which typically run from middling to terrible. Here and there I run across one that sounds interesting, which is what led me to watch The Last Breath. While the story itself is nothing new in any way, I still enjoyed it overall.

Today on the 5: There are many reports that the red hot AI hype cycle is finally coolng off to some degree. While the markets may not be happy about that, it might be the best thing to happen for the sector overall.

Tonight I'm joined again by Doug Bielmeier, teaching professor, musician, and host of The Process for another supersized installment of an ongoing series of film discussions. In this epsiode, we highlight two sequels that often get unfairly compared to their iconic predecessors. While neither Robocop 2 nor Predator 2 can match the level of the previous entries, they're both still really fun and worthwhile movies to see. Get ready for vulgar children and bad accents and enjoy!

Today on the 5: I've done a couple of pretty dismal 5s this week, but I want to make this one something better! As bad as world can be a lot of the time, I've recently found a refuge from miserry: the Olympics!

Today on the 5: You may have seen news about layoffs at Bungie and the excessive spending of the CEO Pete Parsons  right before these staffing reductions. Sites like Aftermath and critics such as Stephanie Sterling have tried to say this makes Parsons a bad CEO, but I would argue the opposite.

Today on the 5: On Friday a new video will post to the show YouTube channel where Doug Bielmeier and I discuss two great sequels, Robocop 2 and Predator 2. What you won't see in that video are any actual clips from rthose movies because YouTube, MGM, and 20th Century Studios are all clearly managed by morons.

Today on the 5: As almost everyone on the planet who accesses the internet knows by now, Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU as Doctor Doom. After reading a Verge article talking about the character, I had a though about how the character is uniquely suited for an ongoing series.
