Today on the 5: A recent ruling by a US judge regarding copyrighting machine generated work sparked a weird line of thinking for me. Is it possible that all this back and forth over machine created works will end up leading to a new appreciation for human created art?

Today on the 5: There have been some leaks around the dev kits sent out for the Vision Pro headset that Apple is planning to sell next year. While these leaks aren't unexpected, I don't know know why larger tech news sites are reporting on them.

Today on the 5: More details have recently started being released about the upcoming Playstation handheld device, now named the Playstation Portal. Many had still hoped this might be a new verson of the PSP or Vita, but none of the newer information makes it seem like anything other than a nearly useless device aimed at a very niche market.

Today on the 5: I came across an interesting relic of what HBO used to be in 1994's Witch Hunt. It's more or less a reboot of a lovely movie titled Cast A Deadly Spell. While it's not as good as that earlier film, it's still a lot of fun.

Today on the 5: One of the byproducts of the release of Oppenheimer is stories delving into the lesser known aspects of the history of the atomic bomb. This is just the latest example of how much we often overlook or don't know about everything from bombs to our cellphones. 

Today on the 5: Just over 2 years ago my wife and I started playing Super Mega Baseball 3 and we ended up having a rerally good time with it. Becaue of that, we jumped right into Super Mega Baseball 4 and while it's still largely a fun game, the shadow of the developer being acquired by EA is hard to miss.

Today on the 5: Between stories about LLMs possibly getting worse over time and examinations on how useful it will really be, we may be seeing a deflation of the hype cycle around "AI". I think that will benefit everyone in the long run.
