Today on the 5: I recently listened to an interview between a seemingly competent and intelligent journalist and the CEO of a major airline. The main topic was pollution and airplanes, and as you might expecrt, the CEO stuck to emphasizing the positive aspects of flying anf dodged the tougher questions. Once the segment concluded, I was left wondering the the purpose of it was.

Today on the 5: Over the weekend I finally got around to watching the first 2 parts of pretty infamous 4 episode OVA titled Mad Bull 34. I knew this series had a reputation for being extreme, but even so I was pretty stunned at how brutal it could be.

Today on the 5: After finishing another run through a drastically better version of Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Lando and I were ready for something a little newer. We jumped into the newest entry in the Borderlands series, Tiny Tina's Wonderlands. We were ready for a kinetic and colorful adventure, but instead we quickly found ourselves bored and annoyed.

Today on the 5: While I've been largely disinterested in much of what Marvel has put out post Endgame, I did read some really promising things about the recently released Echo. It ended up being far better than I expected, and I hope this is an approach to storytelling Marvel starts using more often.

Today on the 5: I followed up Death Dorm with another movie often described as a cheap ripoff of a popular series. This time it's mostly Mad Max serving as the "inspiration" for a film titled Phoenix The Warrior. I wish i could tell you it's better than that reputation, but this one is going to be a pass for most people.

Today on the 5: I watched the 1982 slasher film The Dorm That Dripped Blood, one of many movies that were part of the infamous UK "video nasties". While it's definitely one of the tamer slashers from the time period, it did enough interesting things that it ended up better than I expected. 

Tonight I'm joined again by Doug Bielmeier, teaching professor, musician, and host of The Process. This is another in a continuing series where Doug and I do deep dives into films of all types. In this episode, we're talking about 1972's Solaris and 1979's Stalker. Show music by OGRE.
