Today on the 5: Ray-Ban and Meta have collaborated on a new pair of smart glasses. The reviews for them have been generally good, and while I would never buy these particular glasses I'm impressed with how good they look and function. Maybe we're closer to great smart glasses than I thought!

Today on the 5: You may have heard that Google recently released the Pixel Watch 2, a successor to their first foray into smartwatches. I got one recently, and I like a lot about it. That said, if I had not gotten it for as cheap as I did, I would never even consider buying it.

Today on the 5: Another film in the Cynthia Rothrock catalogue was recently released, 1989's Lady Reporter. I'm surprised this one doesn't rank higher in her filmography, becaue I think it's one of the better showcases of her abilities without the usual shackles of being a co-lead.

Today on the 5: Are you aware that Amazon has brought back a revival series of Takeshi's Castle? I wasn't, but once I found out I watched it immediately and it's FANTASTIC!

Today on the 5: You've likely seen multiple sites with articles talking about how Marvel is in crisis and that the company is rethinking the current model of movies and streaming series. While many of these articles make these developments seem like a bad thing, I think this re-evaluation of the "Marvel Method" could be a ery positive move.

Today on the 5: You've probably seen stories all over the web in the last few days about Marvel possibly changing how it approaches future productions. Beyond some silly headlines, I think these stories outline a potentially positive change in how Marvel will tell future stories.

Today on the 5: After watching 1947's Nightmare Alley, I decided to finally watch the adaptation of the book Guillermo Del Toro made in 2021 with the same title. I expected to prefer the Del Toro version, but I was somewhat surprised that in considering both versions I think I like the older film better.

Today on the 5: The Criterion Channel recently added a new collection titled "November Noir" to their lineup, which immediately caught my interest. I picked one from 1947 called Nightmare Alley, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I didn't realize until right after finishing it that a new version of the story was made in 2021, so this is the first of a set of reviews for movies I watched pretty much back to back.
