Today on the 5: It sure looks like the "live service" approach to games is flaming out as fewer companies are focusing big games in that space. Ironically, I think I have an example of a game that does it right, depending on how you define it.

Today on the 5: Johnny Mnemonic got a new black and white release late last year, which I've been meaning to watch for a while. It was recently added on the Criterion Channel, so I finally watched it. Amazingly, that one change makes for a much better film.

Today on the 5: I picked up the newly released Apocalypse Tetralogy, a quartet of films by Piotr Szulkin. I watched the first entry, Golem, and found it to be a highly atmospheric movie that managed to do a lot with limited resources.

Today on the 5: I recently read a book titled The Terraformers by Annalee Newitz. It's a book that is clearly aiming to get some specific messages across, which sometimes comes at the expense of the storytelling. Even so, I had a good time with it.

Today on the 5: The current studio behind the 2D fighting game Skullgirls recently issued an update to the game that a portion of the fanbase got upset over. Reading through the changes and reactions, it seems like most of the anger is focused on the wrong aspect of the story.

Today on the 5: My wife and I finally got around to watching the first season of Severance. I have a hunch  that my very late to the party review is going to be very similar to others you have likely read or heard.
