”Handelskrig är bra och enkla att vinna”, skrev USA:s president Donald Trump när han införde importtullar i mars 2018. Sju år senare är Trump långt ifrån den enda ledaren i världen som tagit till tullar och andra handelshinder för att skydda inhemsk industri. Och kanske står vi inför en världsomfattande handelskonflikt.

Men varför ökar protektionismen på olika håll i världen? Vad innebär ett handelskrig egentligen, och hur kan handelskonflikter öka risken för militära krig?

Botox, fillers och skönhetsoperationer omtalas ofta i termer av ”empowerment” och ”self-care”, något vi kan ta till för att bli mer framgångsrika och må bättre i oss själva.

Livsfarliga myggburna virus, monsterfästingar som sprider blödarfeber och dödliga havsbakterier som frodas under badsäsongen. Den svenska sommaridyllen hotas av en rad infektionssjukdomar som kryper allt närmare våra breddgrader i takt med att klimatet blir varmare.

Europa har länge varit förskonat från många av de farsoter som skördar miljontals människoliv i den globala södern. Engagemanget kring att ta fram läkemedel och vaccin har varit svagt, liksom intresset att forska på orsaker och lösningar. Men nu har stigande temperaturer och förändrade regnmönster lockat smittspridarna till nya platser, och inte ens vi i norr går längre säkra från de tropiska sjukdomarna. Frågan är om vi kommer lyckas ta fram botemedel - innan massutbrotten är ett faktum.
