As a parent, there are times when you correct your child for not listening. It isn't until they are hit with some consequences that they decide maybe it would be better to listen. God deals with us similarly...when we are disobedient, ignore God's direction, or run from what God has called us to do...He will hit us with some consequences...even bring us to the breaking point to get our attention. But even in those consequences God will pour out His mercy and grace.

The ocean is beautiful but if you disregard the danger signs it can quickly pull you out to sea and cost you your life. In the same way there are many things/ people in this world that seem good, but if we aren't careful those things can get us off course and in trouble. No one likes to feel unwelcome when they go to someone's house or to an event or even when they are new to a team. What kind of impact could we make just by making people feel like they are welcomed. In Psalm 23:5 David says God welcomes him with a mark of honor.  When we welcome others and make them feel honored we give them a glimpse of God's love and favor that He has graciously shown to us. In high school, kids long to sit at the table with the popular kids, but Jesus offers you and me a seat as His table...a table that He prepares for us in the presence of our enemies. Regardless of age, nobody enjoys discipline and correction. However,  when done in love its rewards are great. Proverbs 15:32…Those who disregard discipline despise themselves, but the one who heeds correction gains understanding. I believe God wants to bless your life, and sometimes that means correction is needed for growth to happen...but when it does blessings and favor will be your reward!
