Following the cancellation of Star Trek: The Original Series, fans of the franchise were given the chance to follow the further adventures of Captain Kirk and company in the aptly named Star Trek: The Animated Series. It is the general consensus that animation in the 1970's was downright awful. This "problem" has proven a hinderance for us at Random Trek, but we are very glad that the animation of the modern Trek shows is head and shoulders above what it was 50 years ago. Join Captain Ingle as he discusses how the animation of Star Trek has evolved from terrible to amazing in our modern time. Join him as he goes boldly!

Earlier this week the latest Star Wars series began filming. It is called The Acolyte, and it's set 100 years before the movies at the tail end of an era known as the High Republic. Described as a mystery-thriller, it will tell the story of a Jedi Master and his Padawan as they investigate a series of murders. Join me as I share some thoughts on what we might see in this latest installment in that galaxy far, far away...

On today's episode, I'd like to discuss romance and the Jedi, especially how it has changed over the years. The High Republic novels seem to suggest that several hundred years before the Clone Wars, the Jedi were less uptight about romance. That has led me to theorize that the Jedi weren't always such sticklers, and that their dogmatic approach evolved over the years. Join me as we discuss.

The latest Star Wars installment, Andor, has become my favorite series (animated or live-action) in that galaxy far, far away. It is not at all hyperbole to say that this is operating on a whole different level than most Star Wars media. I absolutely love The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Obi-Wan Kenobi, even if I do prefer Andor due to its brilliant writing and fantastic characters. That does not mean that the other shows don't have great writing and great characters, it's just that Andor has raised the bar to a higher level. Join me as I discuss!
