Paint Everywhere

Let’s dust this podcast off and catch you up on what’s been going on. I’m recording this from the road between Madison and Milwaukee. If you’re looking for crystal-clean audio from someone who has it all together and never messes up, you’re in the wrong place. But if you’re human, juggling life, and feel like every day is a rush, then stick around. Thanks!

Am I telling the wrong story? When people ask "How did you start painting?" I tell them a thing. But is it the right thing? Why did I really start painting? I ask and answer.

As always - feel free to check out my work. https://www.mikedesisti.com/

This episode of the Paint Everywhere Podcast focuses on criticism of art. Specifically on recent refreshing negative comments I received on my art. I also talk about my pseudo studio location and how that all came to be.

This episode was spurred from a brief conversation I had with another artist that lead to some soul searching. I dive into some of the reasons why I started abstract painting and selling my art in the first place.

In this episode of the Paint Everywhere Podcast I talk about a recent art show I was in, how I sold zero paintings, and what I learned from it.

I sat down with my colleague, Milwaukee Journal Sentinel arts and books editor Jim Higgins. He needed interview me for a future print story we do in the Sunday edition that gives readers a behind-the-scenes look into the jobs of staffers at the paper.

How do you know when you’re done? After “how long did that take?”, the knowing when your done is of the most common questions I get about my art. As an artist, I know I’m not alone. It’s a fantastic question. Especially with the kind of abstract work I create. In my first ever podcast, I help answer that with another fellow artist. My 12-year-old daughter.
