In this episode of the Palm & Pine Podcast, the boys of Old Florida welcome Luther Beauchamp—a Chiefland native, attorney, author, and nationally recognized speaker whose journey blends small-town roots with big-time impact.
A graduate of Chiefland High (1961), Florida State University (1964), and Vanderbilt Law (1968), Luther built a respected law practice in Chiefland before serving as General Counsel for the Florida Baptist Convention. Alongside his legal career, he’s also an accomplished author and humorist, with books like I’ll Try To Be Short… and Legal Shorts, Not Briefs that mix wisdom, wit, and laugh-out-loud storytelling.
Luther has taken his humor and insight to stages across the country with speaking programs like Leading with Laughter – It’s Legal, Love is a Laughing Matter, and What You Need to Know About Lawyers. His unique style combines legal expertise, Southern storytelling, and faith-based perspective—always with a hearty dose of humor.
Join us as we talk with Luther about:
•Growing up in Chiefland, Florida and his journey through law school at Vanderbilt
•Building a career as a lawyer, author, and speaker
•Stories behind his books and his most popular speaking programs
•How faith, humor, and small-town roots shaped his outlook on life and service
This is a conversation filled with laughter, wisdom, and a glimpse into the heart of Old Florida.
