The skyrail project has divided communities across Melbourne, but new figures are showing that it might actually have significant benefits for local property values.

The elevated railway lines going up in suburbs around the state have been criticised as having the potential to ruin neighbourhoods and increase crime. However, it's not clear yet that this has happened or will happen.

A cartoon published after tennis superstar Serena Williams' loss in the final of the American open to Naomi Osaka in the American open last week, has been labelled by many as racist. 

The cartoon, depicting Williams throwing a tantrum during a match that was also marred by controversy, was published in the Herald Sun and was drawn by Mark Knight.

Huong Truong is a Greens member of Parliament in the Victorian Legislative Council. 

Huong is the first Vietnamese woman in Australian parliament, and is the Greens' spokesperson for a number of areas, including young people and sustainable cities.

The trial of two international journalists in Myanmar has been labelled a 'travesty of justice' by the new U.N High Commissioner for Human Rights, and has led to widespread condemnation and calls for them to be immediately released. 

Wa Lone and Kyaw Soe Oo, reporters for the news gathering service Reuters, were sentenced to seven years in prison. The pair had been investigating alleged military killings of Rohingya Muslims in the country.

Plans for a new train loop connecting Melbourne's suburban train lines, were recently announced by Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews. 

The underground line would include the construction of at least 15 new stations, also provide a train link to the airport, and is slated to cost approximately $50 billion dollars.
