The Australian Government lobbied hard to member states of the World Heritage Committee to propose the ‘in danger’ listing of the Great Barrier Reef. They were successful in their bid and the scientific community say the irrefutable evidence of damage to the reef suggests the decision is only postponing the inevitable.

Reza Barati was killed during an asylum seeker protest in the Manus island detention centre in 2014. Dozens were injured in the same incident. Barati's family is now seeking justice, and will fight the Australian government and security firm G4S, in court.

Following months of isolation and years of detention, Medevac refugees in Melbourne’s MITA have been on hunger strike against their indefinite detention.

Update: Seven refugees have now been hospitalised after the two week hunger strike, as per The Feed.
