We take a brief pause before starting our next book to do a little purge with Traci and our newest host, Lisa. No outline, no music choices, just right down to what made you mad, sad, and glad this week. From health, to social concerns, to sex toys - we touched on several topics of importance and wrapped with a sentiment of love for the friendships we share.

We’ve got laughter and tears aplenty this episode as we reflect on what it means to age in a society that gives women an expiration date. We’re looking at you, Leonardo DeCaprio. You may think this is an olden timey saying, but you would be wrong. Mona Chollet takes us through what women who choose to remain childless face, and why the role of mother is still pushed, regardless of women actually want. We are in part two of In Defense of Witches: The Legacy of the Witch Hunts and Why Women are Still on Trial. You know you’re intrigued, so join us. We are joined this week by our dear friend Tori, and even though we forgot to do introductions this week, we will make up for that in the near future. She’s a hell of a gal and we are thrilled she’s with us. Plans are in place for more things. Click the link below for all the ways to watch this project unfold with us. We can be voyeurs together.

What would you do if your family couldn’t eat? If you had been promised someone would listen to you and you were still starving months, years later? How far do the extremes go when it’s your life on the line? Dire and extreme situations flamed the flames of the French Revolution, and in many places women led the way. Our characters find themselves facing former allies in an attempt to bring about a Republic in France. Violence reigns supreme, and things are only just beginning to swing into bloody action.
Our current book is City of Darkness, City of Light by Marge Piercy, an historical fiction novel using real people from the French Revolution as the main characters. This is one of those complex topics that lead to the kinds of conversations people from the Enlightenment period would still recognize. Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité were the words that drove the revolution, but for who and for how long?

Character wrap-up time before the real shit starts to go down. Marge Piercy sets up our characters in their youth with imaginative glimpses into the earliest moments that may have influenced who they were becoming at the same time the revolution was unfolding.
