Alec Clayton is an artist. His media has been painting and writing. Alec has a new novel out Tupelo which is based on his growing up in Tupelo, Mississippi in the 1940’s and 1950’s. If you liked or loved “To Kill A Mockingbird” you will love “Tupelo.”

Alec and Baruch discuss Alec’s life, his growing up, and his art. Alec is an interesting guy, and this interview just scratches the surface.

Benji Kaplan is a New Yorker who fell in love with Brazilian music. He composes, plays guitar, and sings. Benji is prolific, having recorded 4 albums in the last 7 years. His new collection Chorando Sete Cores is different from anything else he’s done, teaming up with woodwind musicians to create some breathtaking soundscapes. Benji is currently touring in Brazil with his wife, singer Rita Figueiredo. Baruch caught up with Benji in Sao Paolo.

Antoinette Harrell is a genealogist who has done extensive research and exposed instances of peonage in the US south in the 20th century. What this means is that African descended people were living as slaves on plantations in the United States, until recently, and there may well be instances of peonage that are continuing today.
