In this episode, I'm taking you on a whirlwind journey around the beautiful island of Dominica with my well-traveled guest and friend, Dr. Clementine Affana, founder of the YouTube channel and blog, Travel with Clem. Dr. Clem's intimate knowledge of Dominica, from its lush greenery to its black sand beaches, will get you all ready to pack your bags and go on an epic adventure in the Nature Isle.

Today we explore more than just the physical beauty of Dominica. We dive headfirst into the island's culture, with a special focus on the indigenous Kalinago tribe - one of the only surviving original Caribbean tribes. With Dr. Clem guiding us, we explore the diverse music scene of Dominica, going beyond soca and reggae to discover various genres, and even get a chance to discuss culinary and cultural festivals. We also discuss how to be a respectful tourist, offering tips on choosing accommodations that align with your planned activities and the importance of respecting the local culture.

The number one most frequently asked question in my inbox is Where to Stay? For me, this is always a difficult question to answer since I don't know what you are looking to experience or what kind of vacation you want. So, in today's episode, I want to indirectly answer this question by telling you about the 9 areas or neighborhoods that I recommend you look into when searching for the perfect accommodation for you.

If you are looking for villa options in St. Maarten, there is no better place to start than Top Villas. With so many villas to choose from on both the Dutch and the French side of the island, Top Villas is usually my go-to.

As the coordinator of MP Connect, a network of 40 coral reef marine national parks across 18 Caribbean countries and territories, Emma has dedicated her life to these undersea paradises and the protection of their precious marine life. Riding a hurricane in the Caribbean is not something we like doing. As someone who has survived some of these storms, I want to share with you what I have about preparing, surviving, and about life after a hurricane in the hopes that these tips help you stay safe and sound. Hear firsthand what it's like to brace for a storm,  why the first week of September is especially stressful, and the role you can play as a visitor to these affected islands.
