A journalist visits a rural Indian village to investigate a shrine haunted by a shape-shifting shadow spirit. The locals warn him about a ghost that imitates people but watches in the opposite direction. As he records at night, his own distorted shadow appears and drags him toward a pit of trapped spirits. By morning his body survives, but his shadow is gone—replaced by the ancient spirit. The story ends with a chilling twist as he becomes the new “Shadow One.”
