Sarah and Ali dive into the world of Reddit and tackle some funny MIL stories! Do you have some, or maybe you can share on behalf of a friend? Mother In Law stories are some of the greatest adventures. Most of the time they just want the best for us... right?
Ali and Sarah chat with dear friend and colleague Lisa Resek who just recently made the transition back to work following a maternity. There are lots of feelings, fears and plans that go into returning back to work, many which do not seem as obvious as you might think!
Ali & Sarah go over 13 different (plus a bonus "nub theory") old wives tales around predicting gender on Ali! Surprises are fun, but so are all the games you can play to make your best prediction. Have you used old wives tales to predict things like gender? If you have, were you right or was it WAY off? There's absolutely no science behind it, so it's all for fun anyway. Can't wait to meet baby!
Permissive, Neglectful, Authoritarian and Authoritative - Which Parenting Styles are most prominent in your day to day? Sarah and Ali dive into the meaning of each style and go over what kinds of behaviours are possibly yeilded in children when using these styles. Also, we get into a word of the day... Enjoy the jingle!
Parenting Styles vary from person to person and situation to situation, but they all have a few things in common. No matter where you fall, parenting styles are observed on a sliding scale, with high or low support/warmth and high or low expectations. Sarah and Ali complete the quiz live while giving you some insight into their choices. Parenting styles are similar to leadership styles, so if you're curious but maybe don't have too much parenting experience or any at all, don't worry. The quiz offers great insight no matter what.

Finishing up our conversation from the episode before last, there are SO many more controversial topics we didn't even come close to touching on. What do you think? Is it getting easier/better to publicly feed? Are you aware of early childhood vaccines and use resources available to make decisions? What are you feelings about some of these topics, OR are there any topics we missed you'd like to hear more about?

Sarah and Ali are joined again by Ginette Martin of Edson Eternal Balance (Check it out on Facebook) to try a mini session. Ali is emotional, something we all know too well, but this was such an amazing experience. If you haven't heard of Emotion Code or the work that Ginette does, we encourage you to have a look! It's powerful stuff and definitely helps release trapped emotions. A freeing and emotional experience that we highly recommend anyone to try!

Ali and Sarah discuss some of the most discussed - and debated - topics surrounding motherhood. You can probably imagine that there are way too many to fit into an hour, and some topics can turn into 2 or 3 more debates. There's some cringing but also some surprise, we wonder if you'll have similar reactions! If there are any other topics you'd like us to dive deeper into, be sure to send us a message on our Instagram @edsonparentcafe, send us a text at 7805177055 or email [email protected].
Sarah and Ali chat with business woman and mama extraordinaire - Kerri Sharpe, owner and creator of Pretty Little Pots, based out of our very own Edson, Alberta. Finding out about her inspiration and what she hopes to instill in her own children and what they know about "being who you want to be". Juggling home life and work life isn't easy, but it can definitely be enjoyable and rewarding.
