  • Will our Kids’ Generation be LESS Healthy Than Ours? Health Expert, Kristen Bowen |POF72

After recovering from a complete health crash involving autoimmune issues and a series of failed surgeries, and daily seizures left my guest, Kristen Bowen depressed and bedridden.

Through research and looking for outside-the-box solutions, she concluded that to regain her health she needed to build a strong foundation with whole food supplements. Kristen began researching products that could help improve her health and quality of life and found that soaking in liquid magnesium did just that.

In this episode, Kristen and I talk about what transdermal magnesium is and how vital this mineral is to our health.  Magnesium is crucial to the body’s function and helps keep blood pressure normal, bones strong and heart rhythm steady.  The trick is to achieve cellular saturation!

Listen in as Kristen talks about our health, our kids’ health and how we can ensure the next generation isn’t less healthy than ours!

To enter to win one of two bottles of Kristen’s Magnesium soak, email us with the subject “Magnesium” and include your full name and mailing address to [email protected]

Draw dates: Tuesday, November 24 to Monday, November 30th, 2020.  Winners will be announced in my private Facebook group on Tuesday, December 1st at 3:30 PM PST and winners will be contacted by email.  To join my free Facebook group community, go to www.facebook.com/groups/parentingforconnection

    About Kristen Bowen

It took a complete health crash to lead Kristen Bowen to create Living the Good Life Naturally in 2002. Autoimmune issues and a series of failed surgeries left Kristen bedridden and depressed, with daily seizures. Through research and looking for outside the box solutions, she discovered that to regain her health she needed to build a strong foundation. That foundation included food as medicine and the number one building block for optimal health: Magnesium. She discovered that oral magnesium was not effective  and began using liquid magnesium as a foot soak, finding that the body could utilize it more effectively.

As Kristen’s health improved, she began to research and create natural bath and body products for herself, family, and friends with skin sensitivities. She began sharing her knowledge as she researched and found clean sources of whole food supplements and minerals. She never intended to start a business, but friends offered to pay her for her products and advice. Living the Good Life Naturally was created.

Starting with one-on-one consultations with clients, to farmers markets for the bath and body line, Kristen’s business quickly moved from the small kitchen and extra bedroom in her home to a retail space in Logan, Utah. She hosted a Rocky Mountain Regional radio show for seven years where she answered questions on natural health. This led to workshops and keynote opportunities at natural health conferences. This quickly led to needing a full-time team for production, dealing with marketing, running the retail shop, and a multitude of things that it takes to run a business.

From small beginnings in her 10 by 15 basement kitchen to her warehouse, store, and online business, Kristen has helped thousands of individuals reclaim their own health foundation. As she tells her clients: “You are the CEO of your health. Let me be on your board of directors.”

  • How to Talk to Your Kids About Politics (& the US Election) | POF68

The world is watching the election in the United States.  There is confusing, and contradictory information out there, so how do parents make sense of the election, and how do they talk to their kids about it?

My guest, award winning political campaign strategist, John Shallman, shares how we can talk to our kids about politics and the current US election.  As a dad of 4 himself, John shares brilliant advice on how to tackle topics like, being bullied for the party you align with, how to question news and where to get a non-bias information, and so much more.

As parents, we want to be the source of information for our kids.  They are looking to us for what to believe, and how to act.  We need to remember how strong our influence is on our kids so let’s use this election to talk to the about government and your own personal values.

There are big issues the world is facing, and our kids’ lives have been turned upside down because of it, they’re worried, they’re feeling scared and unsafe and if they see you demonstrating fear, worry and stress, they’ll feel even more unsettled.

I want parents to know they don’t have to have all the answers to their kids’ questions.  If you don’t know, be honest, and look things up together.  Keep things as age appropriate and simplified as you can.

In this podcast, John also shares the unique story of finding a century’s old manuscript from his late grandfather whom he never met.  This story is of his grandfather who was exiled to Siberia by the last czar of Russia.  This award-winning book is full of romance, revolution and survival.  Check it out here: https://returnfromsiberia.com/?fbclid=IwAR1jK55MdMxBeydClZ1VOSPy2Ji3LFsApLJvL7JXUv8vdSIHwWncK0wiUHk

  • Your Post Baby Body - What Your Mother Never Told You! | POF67

How many times from pregnancy to parenting do you feel like you are doing it all wrong?  The truth is, we need to have open and honest conversations about the changes in our bodies as a result of carrying our babies.  Often after childbirth, moms are forgotten and everyone is focused on the baby.  Yes, that's wonderful but we are left feeling exhausted, in pain, and reeling from the birth experience.

This episode is all about our bodies as women and our health after we have our beautiful babies. My wonderful guest, Wendy Powell, the founder of the MUTU system , talks about how our bodies change and what we can do about it!

Many women experience urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, painful sex, and diastasis recti which can lead to embarrassment, anxiety, shame and lack of confidence.

Wendy believes every woman deserves the dignity and pleasure of a body that works and feels good.  She helps women, get their power back by supporting them through this time and teaching them how to build their pelvic floor and supporting them with a community of women so no mama has to face this alone.

Wendy has also  launched a campaign called #ByMySide, which is all about raising awareness of the importance of birthing partners during the pandemic. The campaign encourages women to take to social media to post a picture with their birthing partner alongside a message about how important they were.

    About Wendy Powell

MUTU System was founded by mother of two Wendy Powell, a globally recognised leading voice on equality and empowerment for women’s health, with almost two decade’s experience in personal training. As the woman behind the best-selling online programme for mothers, trusted by over 70,000 women worldwide, Wendy is loved and recommended by specialist women’s health experts, surgeons, Hollywood celebrity trainers and their clients and even Royalty. The birth of MUTU System as a company stems from the births of Wendy's own children. It was the experience of a traumatic childbirth, which almost caused Wendy to lose her life, which would go on to reshape her entire career and give her a whole new perspective on what mothers have to deal with. Feeling physically and emotionally broken, powerless, useless at performing the most basic of female human functions, Wendy was left reeling from her childbirth experience. She realised that many women feel like this, hurried by well-meaning others to ‘get over it’ or move on. Many women struggle to see their beauty, strength and power. Whether it was recent or many years ago, and however it plays out, she knew that births stay with mothers and can leave them feeling battered, broken and disconnected.

It was here that MUTU System was born. A service for mothers, much like herself, who become out of touch and feel as if they lack control of their own body.  She built what she had needed, but couldn’t find.  The company would go on to fill this void and provide tens of thousands of women across the world with a crucial support system to reconnect with themselves, physically and mentally. Today, Wendy is shifting the conversation on women’s bodies towards equality and empowerment for health, confidence and power. She is also on the Women’s Development Board of charity Microloan Foundation UK and works with medical professionals around the world to improve education, dignity and empowerment for mothers.

    About MUTU System

MUTU System is a digital 12-module specialist core and pelvic floor programme for all mothers, proven to improve physical symptoms including urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, painful sex and diastasis recti which can lead to embarrassment, anxiety, discomfort and lack of confidence. Launched in 2009, MUTU System has a 94% success rate for clients feeling better in their bodies and the programme is backed by medical professionals. The concept is grounded in the belief that every...

  • Why Curiosity Matters with Mike Alpert|POF66

Why talk about curiosity?  Because...we are all born curious!  You can see it the most when you watch your little ones as they are explore the world around them.  Isn’t that the best thing to watch?  I'm sure you have seen your child get so excited and curious about something they have discovered.  When your child is curious about something there is nothing that will stop them from learning about it.  Unfortunately, we do a really good job of killing our kids love of learning, exploring and curiosity as they get older.

So how do we foster a lifelong love of learning and curiosity? Enter The Curiosity Blueprint!  My guest, Mike Alpert who is the lead instructor of the Curiosity Blueprint, which is a flexible framework that empowers students to explore their own curiosity.  As a former teacher and administrator, Mike wanted to create something to help parents help their kids learn and to help foster lifelong curiosity.

Mike’s Curiosity Blueprint works as a compliment to your kids learning as it teaches kids conduct research and create a project that will interest and educate their audience…so you don’t have to be the one teaching them how to do this (high five parents!!).   It also fosters curiosity by taking your child  on a self-directed journey that can fill their downtime with healthy, exciting inquiry.  (in other words, so they aren’t mindlessly on a screen)

In this episode, Mike talks about why curiosity is important at all stages of life.  We also talk about the need curiosity in  ur parenting because judgement, and criticism can't exist when we ask questions and get curious!

Over the next decade, Mike took his expertise to the classroom and front office, where he worked as a teacher before becoming an administrator. Mike is a Crystal Apple Award Winning educator, and has worked in both small, rural districts and large, suburban districts in the Portland metro area, even serving overseas as a teacher and Central Administrator in Prague, Czech Republic.

Mike is a founding board member of Ex Novo Brewing Co., the world’s first non-profit brewery, and on his “off days” (a little educator joke) you can find him training for his next half-marathon or at home with his wife and their son.
