Parents' Night In: Boozy Movie Reviews

For its tenth birthday Kelly & Justin discuss The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan's Batman masterpiece, still the greatest superhero movie of all time (probably forever).  But it's so much more.  The Dark Knight is a Faust-esque Shakespearean tragedy about two opposing forces battling for the soul of Gotham city, in the person of Harvey Dent.  Heath Ledger's Oscar-winning performance is still the stuff of legend, but Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and especially Aaron Eckhart also deliver wonderful performances in this Shakespeare-worthy tragedy....

Check it out dood, we're eatin' pawp tahts, drinkin' beeahs, watchin' a Bawstin movie about a wicked smaht kid from Southie!  Unleash your inner Masshole and join us for Good Will Hunting, starring Matt Damon, Robin Williams, Ben Affleck and Minnie Drivah!  Kelly and Justin talk about the film itself but also growing up in Boston, how weird the accent is, how much we miss Robin Williams, and Minnie's sexy English accent....

Hey everyone, time to set the DeLorean for 1985 and join us as we watch Back to the Future, starring Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover and Thomas F. Wilson!  We'll be discussing this classic film and what it meant to us as kids, Eric Stoltz's failed turn as Marty McFly, why Glover was missing from the sequels, and much more!  Plus we're enjoying some Cold Harbor beer, from Justin's hometown of Westborough, MA!  This is also the first episode to feature a power outage.....

It's Valentine's Day and we're in for the night, so we decided to pop open some wine and watch a romantic movie, James Cameron's 1997 epic Titanic, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet.  We both loved this movie when it came out, we both feel compelled to watch bits of it when it's on TBS six times a day, and it's been years since we sat through it front-to-back.  So we're here to reassess the megahit about a sinking boat!

Welcome to the first PNI of 2020, where Kelly and Justin watch and discuss Sofia Coppola's breakout film Lost in Translation, starring Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson!  This was one of the first films we watched together as a couple, on our first bona fide date, and we've been enjoying films together ever since.  LIT holds sentimental value for us as a sweet, poignant film about two lonely people finding a deep emotional connection in a strange city.  It's funny, thoughtful and delightful, and we love watching it.  We'll also discuss Oscar history, traveling, and the dawn of text messaging.

Welcome to a special bonus episode, a mini PNI if you will!  Justin & Kelly are back to discuss the beloved TV special, A Charlie Brown Christmas!  We've been fans of this show for as long as we can remember, and we'll be talking about our first impressions, why it's an annual watch for us, why Christmas doesn't carry the same magic for adults as for children, and the emotional benefits of thumbsucking (Yeah, we thought this was a strange topic as well).  So join us for a short episode, and Merry Christmas!

It's the holiday season, and for Justin and Kelly that means opening some delicious libations and enjoying our annual viewing of Frank Capra's legendary classic It's a Wonderful Life, starring James Stewart and Donna Reed!  We desperately love this film and find new ways to relate to it as we get older; it's like a great piece of music that gets better every time you hear it.  One of the best and most emotionally engaging films ever made....

Justin and Kelly enjoy some beers, watch the classic 80s action film Die Hard, and debate whether it is or isn't truly a Christmas film.  Kelly gushes over Bruce Willis, while Justin gushes over Alan Rickman, who delivers a career villain performance in his first film role!

Sit back, crack open a beer, and laugh with us as we talk Die Hard!

Gonna Fly Now! It's the movie that started the most unlikely blockbuster franchise in movie history, ROCKY!  Sylvester Stallone and Talia Shire star in this 1976 Best Picture winner about a down & out fighter with one last shot at glory.

Kelly & Justin love the Rocky movies and wine, so we'll be talking about this film and its sequels, why we love Sly Stallone, and why this movie has endured for over 40 years!  Watch, listen, and laugh, and SUBSCRIBE!

It's Halloween and that means we're watching The Shining, Stanley Kubrick's controversial adaptation of the Stephen King novel.  Jack Nicholson and Shelley Duvall star in this terrifying domestic tragedy with supernatural trappings, and Justin & Kelly enjoy some booze and talk about one of their favorite horror films....
