The Treasure of the Gospel is to Know God - to be brought into the relationship that Jesus has always had with the Father. His Holy Spirit gives us gifts to mine that treasure. 1 of those gifts is the Bible. What is the Bible?

By faith in Jesus we receive the treasure of being brought into Jesus' own knowledge of God the Father & His Love because He endured our punishment for "knowing" sin. He gives Scripture, Prayer, Worship & Fellowship to mine & delight in that treasure.

God lifts Joseph to reign in Egypt so that his suffering BECAUSE OF his brothers would be a suffering FOR his brothers. 2000 years later, God raised & crowned Jesus - who suffered BECAUSE of & FOR those who humbly receive Him as Ruler & Saviour

God is the author of both the rising & falling of Joseph's life to show His glory by saving many people. All attempts to stop it are actually used by God to accomplish it. Years later God would author His own humiliation to save many people from judgement

Judah, the royal son from whom Jesus would eventually come, behaves, with his sons wickedly, involving, using & shaming a foreign woman in their selfish sin. Though she is also undeserving, God cares for & welcomes her into the family of Jesus

By wrestling with Jacob God taught him to replace his self-dependence with God-dependence. Independent, self-sufficient people will not know God, but only those who rely on God's work through Jesus for us and in us.

God's presence would be with Jacob until he returned to be with God in the land of rest. This was inseparable from God's promise to bring joy to all nations. Jesus is the "stairway to heaven", the way for all nations to be with God and enjoy Him forever

Everyone thought God should use Esau, not Jacob, to make His special family. He was older, stronger, & could do more. Jacob knew that being part of God's family was even better than life. To be God's child, trust what Jesus did, not what you can do.

The father sends a servant to present God's chosen bride to his beloved son in the promised land, where she will share in the son's inheritance & blessing from the Lord. God's love, guidance, & control make all things work together to bring her to him.
