Mark Booker | Leviticus 19:1-2, 9-18 | God With Us: Be Holy | The wide range of laws in Leviticus 19 teaches us that there is no dimension of our lives that is not included in God's call to holiness. In this final message in a four-part Advent series, we examine the foundation of love, the specific case of care for the poor and vulnerable, and a general principle that undergirds our growth in holiness.

This is a challenging topic but one on which the church needs to speak courageously, clearly, and compassionately into the confusion of our culture. The provision of atonement in Leviticus enables God to dwell with his people, and this day enables the high priest to be in the presence of God, behind the veil in the tabernacle. The greater atonement in Jesus - which is the center of Scripture and of history - rips the veil in the temple and enables us to draw near to God with confidence and full assurance.

Even as we rejoice in God's provision, we are exhorted - in response to God's grace - to grow in purity more and more.
