In episode 237 of the Parker's Pensées Podcast, I'm joined by Dr. Ben Goertzel to discuss the philosophy of artificial general intelligence. We dive into the distinction between analytic and continental philosophy, the definition of artificial general intelligence, and take a deep dive into Ben's work on his latest AGI project, OpenCog Hyperon. Does God exist? If we live in a computer simulation, is our simulator our God? Philosopher David Chalmers thinks yes and yes. He argues that we may in fact live in a computer simulation and that's one of the best arguments for the existence of God. But the god of the simulation wouldn't be a full blown cosmic God like the Abrahamic God. So Chalmers argues that he can unite theism and atheism, naturalism and creationism, through the simulation hypothesis (or simulation theory).
