Most guys want a new RC plane or gear for Christmas but the FAA gave all of us new regulations instead! The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released final rules for Unmanned Aircraft (UA) in part 107. The new rules will require Remote Identification (Remote ID) of drones and allow operators of small drones to fly over people and at night under certain conditions. The boys will discuss highlights that they like and those that they have concerns.

Its almost that time of the year and the members of the Arizona Model Aviators (AMAs) are busy planning for the 17th annual Electric Festival held at  Superstition Air Park. President of the AMAs,  Shannon Gallagher explains all the extra hoops that they had to overcome to plan for this upcoming event!

This episode we invite Greg Tanous on the show to discuss his lifetime supply of Depron Foam. Greg is a toy designer that has built toys for some of the major manufactures and done flyable models for the movie industry. He is currently designing a flying wing suit that will be available on his website in the near future. He was able to secure the distribution of Depron for the US and we are excited to have him join us to discuss the stories involved in making this happen.

Doug Leroy, current President of the Holly Springs Skyhawks Radio Control Group is back with a new bundle of Joy! Covid has driven him crazy from isolation and has made him buy a 3D printer. Doug gives a great beginners perspective on getting a one. He also explains that the pandemic has been great for his club and his youth membership is at a record high! The boys find out all the dirt on the Skyhawks since their visit last year.

AZ Mike and Jay are fortunate to have a guest this week. Steve Wattenberg, president of Watervliet Wind Warriors home of the Capital Regions best Indoor Flying Site. They talk to Steve about his trip to the latest NEAT Fair in New York and his unique club.

AZ and AK talk about why they couldn’t make the last podcast . AK Mike talks about his needs and desires for a designing a new plane room. AZ Mike flew a turbine that was a Parkflyer in disguise!

Hope you’ve been keeping cool and flying up a storm during the dog days of summer. AZ Mike has ended his vacation and returned in his  “mobile bunker” to the living fire pit known as Phoenix! The boys  reminisce over the last bit of flying they did at Jays place in the Hills of Texas.  AK Mike and Jay talk about the some 3d printer projects they have been working on.
