An encounter with a tax official can be a positive experience unless the system of government is corrupt and the tax official is one of its cronies. The man that we are introduced to in vs. 13-17 of chapter two is just that, a crook and a tax crony. But then one day Jesus calls Levi to become his follower and friend. Even though it cost Levi much to follow Jesus, he gradually discovered that he gained more than he could have ever imagined. | Outline: (1) An Unexpected Addition (vs. 13-14). (2) A Personal Accusation (vs.1 5-16). (3) A Surprising Answer (vs. 17). There are two lessons we Learn about Following Jesus: (i) there's an impact upon relationships, and (ii) there's a definitive change.
